Admission for autumn term 13 August - 3.September 2019
Anybody with secondary education can learn at TalTech Open University. Admission is without state examinations. Learning is formalized by terms.
All subjects taught at TalTech can be learned with the open programme. The subjects are offered in tailored combinations to complete university-level studies in own speciality or update qualification.
A prospective student must submit an application and appear at open University to conclude a contract. After the formalization of contract, the student will submit own study programme (selection of courses) via the study information system SIS (in Estonian ÕIS).
If you wish to give up selected course(s), a written notice must be submitted to TalTech Open University. Otherwise Open University is entitled to demand education service fee for all the courses declared.
For enrolment, please take with you:
- Original and copy of a document certifying education
- Identity document
- NB! Only for external students – formalized list of subjects with lecturers’ signatures (to become entitled for taking an examination, lecturer’s signature must be received).
If you want to take examination(s) as an external student, the right of declaration shall be valid until the end of classroom and practical studies only.
The student status is formalized by one term at a time. Hence a new contract must be concluded for every term.
An individual code is attributed to a student at primary registration. A person attending a hand-picked selection of courses and taking tests and examinations at own discretion at TalTech is considered a student of Open University. The rules regulating the study process at TalTech apply to students of Open University. However, the student’s rights do not extend on persons studying at Open University.
Studying takes place by terms, therefore an individual scheme of subjects must be drawn by the student at the beginning of each term, specifying all the subjects he or she is willing to take at the term. The academic year is divided into autumn and spring terms at TalTech.
TalTech Guide for Bachelor’s and Diploma studies, for Master’s and Doctoral studies and TalTech curricula can be referred to when putting together own scheme of subjects. These source documents are available in the Internet and at departments.
The formalized individual scheme of subjects for a term must be submitted via SIS by fixed deadline. A student can change own list of subjects prior to deadline. All further amendments to the scheme of subjects can be formalized with approval of the Head of Open University only. The request is considered reasoned, if the studying of a subject has become impossible due to circumstances not depending on the student.
The obligation of collecting minimum and maximum credit points does not apply to students of Open University.
